Bombardier’s new flagship reaches Mach 0.95, making it the fastest civilian aircraft since Concorde
Bombardier delivered the first Global 8000 on December 8, 2025, marking entry into service for the fastest business jet ever built. The handover at the company’s Mississauga, Ontario facility drew hundreds of employees and officials to witness a milestone in business aviation.
Breaking Speed and Altitude Records
The Global 8000 reaches Mach 0.95—the fastest any civilian aircraft has flown since the Concorde retired. Combined with its 8,000 nautical mile range, the jet can connect more global city pairs nonstop than any competitor.
The aircraft also maintains a cabin altitude of just 2,691 feet while cruising at 41,000 feet—the lowest of any business jet in production. This reduces passenger fatigue by minimizing the body’s exposure to lower air pressure at high altitudes.
Advanced Systems
The Pur Air system refreshes cabin air every 90 seconds, while Soleil circadian lighting adjusts to support natural sleep patterns during flight. Four separate living areas and a dedicated crew rest section provide exceptional space on long-haul flights.
The Smooth Flex Wing design with leading-edge slats allows the large jet to access runways typically limited to smaller aircraft.
Certification and Market Impact
Transport Canada certified the aircraft in November 2025, with FAA and EASA approval pending. The Global 8000 replaces Bombardier’s Global 7500 as the company’s flagship.
“This revolutionary aircraft is redefining the business aviation landscape,” said Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President and CEO.
With the fastest civilian aircraft since Concorde now in service, Bombardier has set performance benchmarks that establish the Global 8000 as the new standard in ultra-long-range business aviation.
