‘What Is Going On Here? You Guys Are Meant to Report the Truth, How Have You Let Yourselves Become Agents of Propaganda,’ JD Vance Snaps At Reporters During Press Briefing

During a White House press briefing on Thursday, Vice President JD Vance addressed reporters’ questions about the fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis the previous day, accusing the media of biased reporting and presuming the woman’s actions were legitimate protest.

Context of the Remarks

The comments came in response to ongoing coverage of the January 7 incident, where 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed during an Immigration and Customs Enforcement operation. Federal officials have stated that Good attempted to use her vehicle against law enforcement officers.

Vance’s Direct Response to a Reporter

In the exchanged captured in the video clip, Vance challenged the media’s framing of the event:

“…but it should sure as hell earn you a few years in prison if you are trying to assault our law enforcement officers. What is going on here? You guys are meant to report the truth. How have you let yourselves become agents of propaganda of a radical fringe that is making it harder to enforce our laws? You just asked me a question that presumed that the reason this person died is because she was engaged in legitimate protest, she tried to run somebody over with her car and the guy defended himself when that happened..”

The vice president emphasized that the woman’s death resulted from her alleged attempt to strike an officer with her vehicle, describing the officer’s actions as self-defense.
