THANK YOU PRESIDENT TRUMP!
Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem joined federal, state, and local leaders at border sites in Arizona and North Dakota to highlight recent achievements. Preliminary January data show that U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehensions at the southern border have fallen dramatically, with daily apprehensions 42% lower than the per-hour rate recorded during December 2023, near the height of the previous administration. Nationwide encounters for January reached 34,631, the lowest ever recorded for that month and 87% below the monthly average under the prior administration. Southwest border apprehensions have declined for four consecutive months, with January totals at 6,073, representing a 93% drop from historical averages over the past 33 years.

Secretary Noem praised the work of federal law enforcement and emphasized the administration’s commitment to strict border enforcement. “For four long years before President Trump, we saw what it was like when people put men above our laws. We saw how people were victimized, hurt, and abused, and Americans didn’t want to live like that anymore,” Noem said. “When they elected President Trump, they chose someone who recognized that a country with no border is no country at all. With President Trump, and all of the great law enforcement officers across the country who do their work every day, we’ve got a promise of a bright future, and a promise of an amazing country for years to come.”
The administration has also focused on strengthening the northern border. In North Dakota, Secretary Noem and Director Lyons met with local leaders, including Grand Forks Mayor Brandon Bochenski and Grand Forks County Sheriff Andrew Schneider, to discuss collaboration on Northern Border operations. This partnership includes the deployment of advanced technology, including the replacement of the U.S. Border Patrol’s drone fleet following the acquisition of 300 small unmanned aircraft systems in fiscal year 2025. The northern border, which stretches 5,525 miles across 13 U.S. states and eight Canadian provinces and territories, has benefited from these new resources, further enhancing national security.
The Trump administration’s border initiatives have set multiple historic records for enforcement and deterrence. For nine straight months, no illegal aliens have been released into the United States, underscoring the administration’s claim of a secure and well-managed border. These measures reflect a continuation of the policies and priorities established under President Trump, focusing on law enforcement, technological modernization, and collaboration with state and local partners to ensure the integrity of the nation’s borders.
