President Donald Trump drew laughter and applause from the audience during a recent speech when he performed a humorous imitation highlighting his views on transgender athletes competing in women’s weightlifting.
Trump began by referencing a women’s weightlifting record that allegedly stood unbroken for 18 years. He hesitated briefly, noting, “My wife gets very upset when I do this. She hates when I do this. She says, ‘That’s not presidential.’ But should I do it anyway?” The crowd enthusiastically cheered “Yeah!”
Proceeding with the imitation, Trump described a female weightlifter struggling with “little tiny weights,” mimicking her in a high-pitched voice: “Ugh… ugh… can’t do it… ugh…” while gesturing as if straining and shaking in failure.
He then contrasted this with a transgender woman—described as a “failed weightlifter as a man” who transitioned—effortlessly lifting 206 pounds, grunting and hoisting the bar overhead multiple times before dramatically tossing it aside. Trump claimed this broke the previous record by 119 pounds, declaring, “That’s not right.”
Trump chuckled and added, “My wife hates when I do this. I’m in trouble when I get home.”
