Rep. Randy Fine (R-Fla.) delivered pointed remarks at the first-ever press conference of the Sharia-Free America Caucus in Washington this week, emphasizing his opposition to any influence of Sharia law in the United States.
Fine, who represents Florida’s 6th District and is a member of the newly formed caucus, opened by sharing a personal experience with threats stemming from his views. Next Monday, he said, he will travel to a Florida courthouse for a deposition in a criminal case against a man who sent death threats to him and his family. The individual reportedly stated, “I know where you live. I’m coming to kill you. I’m going to kill your children in front of you.” Fine noted that this was the third such threat he has received, and the suspect was arrested by customs upon attempting to enter the United States after sending the messages from overseas. He attributed the threats to a statement he had made comparing reactions to religious expressions. If someone yells “Praise Jesus,” Fine said, people typically smile. If someone says “Baruch Hashem,” which he noted he might use himself, others may not understand it but are not afraid. But if someone in the room yelled “Allahu Akbar,” he said, everyone would look for a place to hide.
If you would like to live under Sharia law, you have 57 countries to choose from.

Fine amplified his message in a post, writing: “If you would like to live under Sharia law, you have 57 countries to choose from. The United States will NEVER be the 58th. If you do not agree with our ways, I will point you to the door.”
Fine urged his colleagues not to be afraid and to abandon terms like “radical Islam” or “Islamist.” He described it as mainstream Islam, saying the radicals are those who do not want to kill, while the mainstream does. He referenced what he called the “United Islamic Kingdom” and “Francistan,” pointing to France canceling New Year’s Eve celebrations over attack concerns and debates in the United Kingdom’s parliament about legalizing cousin marriage.
The congressman concluded by noting there are 57 countries where people can live under Sharia law if they choose. Working with colleagues, he said, they will ensure the United States does not become the 58th.
The Sharia-Free America Caucus, launched by Reps. Chip Roy (R-Texas) and Keith Self (R-Texas) and now including dozens of Republican members, held the press conference to highlight what participants described as the need to prevent Sharia from gaining any foothold in American law or society. The group has grown rapidly since its formation late last year, reflecting ongoing congressional debates over immigration, religious freedoms, and cultural integration amid broader national discussions on these issues.
