Ukraine’s Special Unit Destroys Two Critical Russian Radar Systems in Crimea – Ukrainian Media Reports

According to Ukrainian media reports, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence (HUR) special unit, Prymary (“Ghosts”), conducted another precise strike against Russian forces in temporarily occupied Crimea, destroying two high-value radar stations that served as critical components of Russia’s air defense network.

Target Details

On the territory of occupied Crimea, the Prymary unit disabled two Russian radar systems: the 39N6 Kasta-2E2 and 96L6 radars, both integral parts of the S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile system. These radars were critical for detecting aerial targets and supporting the combat operations of Russian air defense systems. Their destruction significantly weakens Russian ability to control the peninsula’s airspace.

The successful operation demonstrates both the precision of Ukrainian weapons and the professionalism of military intelligence special forces. The loss of such air defense elements inflicts not only tactical but also significant financial damage, as these radar systems are expensive and scarce.

Part of Broader Campaign

The destruction of Russian radars in Crimea is part of a broader effort to systematically demilitarize the occupied peninsula. Previously, Ukraine’s Defense Forces targeted Russian air defense systems, ammunition depots, and command posts, with a particular focus on destroying S-400 complexes. Each destroyed radar weakens Russian defenses and expands opportunities for further Ukrainian operations.

Recently, Ukrainian intelligence reportedly destroyed a Russian An-26 military transport aircraft and two other high-value targets in temporarily occupied Crimea. RBC-Ukraine also reported that HUR strike drones carried out a series of precision attacks in occupied Crimea, destroying several radar systems and a Russian ship-based helicopter.

On the night of November 1-2, HUR struck the Russian command post of an S-400 Triumf surface-to-air missile division stationed at a combat position and a Russian multifunctional 92N6E radar in Crimea.
