Trump Orders All US Flags Lowered to Half-Mast in Honor of Late Congressman Doug LaMalfa

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that he has ordered all American flags throughout the United States to be lowered to half-mast in tribute to the late Congressman Doug LaMalfa.

Doug LaMalfa was a Republican U.S. Representative for California’s 1st Congressional District, which covers much of rural Northern California. A fourth-generation rice farmer from the region, LaMalfa served in Congress from 2013 until his death on January 6, 2026, at age 65. He previously held positions in the California State Assembly and State Senate.

In the post, Trump wrote: “In honor of the late, GREAT, Congressman Doug LaMalfa, a true American Patriot and fantastic Representative of Northern California, yesterday I ordered all American Flags throughout the United States lowered to Half Mast until this evening. Doug will be dearly missed!

The order directs flags to remain at half-mast until the evening of January 7, 2026. This gesture recognizes LaMalfa’s service as a congressman representing Northern California.
