Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, stated in an exclusive interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News that she dedicated her award to President Donald Trump, crediting him for recent developments in Venezuela.
During the interview, Hannity referenced the Venezuelan opposition’s efforts, noting that a stand-in candidate closely associated with Machado had defeated Nicolás Maduro in a landslide election under “extreme unfair conditions.” He also discussed Machado’s time in hiding within Venezuela before traveling to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, and the unusual nature of dedicating the award to the leader of another country.
Machado clarified her decision, saying, “As soon as I learned about the Nobel Peace Prize, I dedicated it to Trump because I knew at that point, he deserved it.” She emphasized that many considered Trump’s actions on January 3, 2026, impossible to achieve.
She added, “A lot of people, most people said it was impossible to achieve what he has just done on Saturday January third. And so, I believe he deserved it. I think he has proven to the world what he means. January third will go down in history the day justice won. It is a milestone. It is not only huge for Venezuelans…”
The comments come in the context of recent events in Venezuela, including the apparent ouster of Maduro, as implied by the discussion of January 3 as a historic day of justice. A clip of the interview, shared by Sean Hannity on X, highlights this portion of the conversation.
Machado’s dedication has sparked varied reactions online, with some viewing it as recognition of U.S. involvement in Venezuela’s political transition. The full context of the interview focuses on her role in the opposition and the path forward for the country.
