In a recent appearance on NBC’s Meet the Press, White House Border Czar Tom Homan faced pointed questions from host Kristen Welker about reports stemming from a 2024 undercover FBI operation. The investigation involved agents posing as business executives who allegedly provided Homan with a bag containing $50,000 in cash, in connection with discussions about potential government contracts during a second Trump administration.
Welker prefaced her questions by noting that the Justice Department had reviewed the matter and closed the investigation last year, concluding there was “no credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing.” She then sought Homan’s response to the reports.
The exchange unfolded as follows:
- Welker asked whether Homan kept $50,000 or returned it.
- Homan replied: “I did nothing illegal.”
- Welker followed up: “Was there $50,000 in the bag?”
- Homan responded: “This is an attack on my integrity and I’m not addressing it.”
- Welker pressed: “Did you return the money?”
- Homan stated: “I didn’t have any money to return.”
- Welker inquired: “Would you be comfortable releasing the recordings?”
- Homan answered: “I’m not going to get ahead of their investigation.”
The questions arose amid recurring media coverage of the 2024 FBI sting operation, which reportedly included audio and video recordings of the interaction. Homan has consistently denied any wrongdoing, emphasizing that federal authorities found no basis for criminal charges. He has described the line of inquiry as an assault on his character and declined to elaborate further on the specifics.
