Gov. Tim Walz Says He ‘Will Never Run for an Elected Office Again’ — ‘There’s Other Ways to Serve and I’ll Find Them’

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he will not seek elected office again after finishing his current term, reaffirming his intention in an interview as political tensions over federal immigration enforcement continue in the state.

Walz spoke with MS NOW’s Jacob Soboroff about his future in public life and his reactions to ongoing disputes over federal policies, including immigration enforcement actions and communication with national officials.

“I have no political consideration, will never run for an elected office again,” Walz said when asked whether he regretted leaving a consequential moment earlier in his political career. “Never again, and I will just do the work.”

In the interview, Walz described the political environment in Minnesota as challenging and said he understood personal animosity directed toward him, remarks connected to broader tensions over federal immigration enforcement and public safety issues in the state.

Walz said he saw “heroes on the streets” and highlighted the efforts of local leaders outside the electoral arena. “There’s other ways to serve, and I’ll find them,” he said.

The governor’s comments reinforce a decision announced earlier this year not to seek re‑election and align with his earlier intention to step back from electoral politics after his current term ends in 2027.

Attorney General Pam Bondi made the comments in an exclusive interview with Fox News in Minneapolis, where she met with federal prosecutors and law enforcement officials amid what she described as ongoing chaos in the state. “No one is above the law in this state or in this country, and people will be held accountable,” Bondi told Fox News.

Walz, who was the Democratic vice-presidential nominee in 2024, is under federal investigation alongside Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey over alleged attempts to impede immigration agents. The probe stems from their public statements criticizing the deployment of ICE and Border Patrol personnel in Minnesota.
