Donald Trump Jr., son of President Donald Trump, sharply criticized Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) following his House floor remarks defending lethal self-defense against federal agents under certain circumstances.
“This is demented. Democrats once again openly calling for violence!!!” Trump Jr. wrote, responding to Nadler’s comments

“If you were attacked by a masked person, you might think you were being kidnapped. You would be justified in shooting the person to protect yourself. But we see people being shot for what? For driving a car.”
JUST IN: Democrat Rep. Jerry Nadler appears to suggest American citizens would be justified in shooting masked ICE agents.

Nadler, a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee and a prominent figure in Democratic leadership, made the statements amid debate over a budget amendment. He framed fiscal concerns as secondary to what he described as the “major problem” in the country today: “the fascism in our streets” and what he perceives as abuses by federal enforcement agencies under the Trump administration.
His remarks came in the wake of the fatal shooting of 37-year-old Alex Pretti, a U.S. citizen and intensive care nurse, by federal immigration agents in Minneapolis. DHS stated that the shooting occurred after Pretti allegedly approached officers with a handgun and resisted disarmament. The incident sparked protests not only in Minneapolis but also in New York, Washington, D.C., and San Francisco.
Nadler accused federal agents of repeated overreach, saying:
“We see ICE goons break into people’s homes without a warrant. We see them drag out a man—an American citizen—in his underwear, without even permitting him, in the snow, to get dressed.”
The remarks drew immediate backlash from Republicans. Vice President JD Vance said, “Jerry Nadler is one of the highest-ranking Democrats in the House of Representatives and he is openly calling for people to shoot federal law enforcement. This is despicable behavior from an elected official and I’m sure the leftwing media will cover it extensively.”

Trump Jr.’s criticism underscores the ongoing political tension surrounding federal law enforcement practices, accountability, and the rhetoric elected officials use when discussing controversial incidents that have ignited national debate.
