Rep. Ilhan Omar fired back at President Trump after he referenced her in an interview, calling him the “leader of the Pedophile Protection Party” and accusing him of trying to distract from his own legal controversies. Omar, the Minnesota Democrat and Somali-born congresswoman, added, “At least in Somalia they execute pedophiles, not elect them,” directly responding to Trump’s remarks in which he disparaged her and her record.

The interview that prompted Omar’s response showed Trump saying, “Somalia has come in here — what they’ve done to our country, these people — they’ve come into our country, and what they’ve done with that fake congresswoman. She’s so bad.” Omar’s reply highlighted both her longstanding criticism of Trump’s record and the persistent attacks he has directed at her throughout his political career.

Trump’s comments echo statements he made during a recent rally, where he questioned Omar’s commitment to the U.S. Constitution and contrasted her with immigrants he described as “great people” coming to the country legally. Speaking to a cheering crowd, he said, “They are coming in legally, but they cannot come in unless they come in legally into our country, and we are letting some great people come in. They have to show that they can love our country. Not like Ilhan Omar.”
Trump: They have to show that they can love our country. Not like ilhan Omar. See that wiseguy? She is always talking about the constitution. The constitution. She comes from a country that is a disaster. It is not even a country, ok? It barely has a government. I don't think it… pic.twitter.com/adcccxRYJQ

At the rally, Trump also invoked Somali piracy, historically active along the Horn of Africa, as part of a broader discussion on immigration and law enforcement. He said, “You think of one thing, pirates. But they don’t do that anymore. Because they get the same treatment from us as the drug dealers get. Boom, boom, boom,” claiming that U.S. measures had reduced drug trafficking by water by 97% and boasting of efforts to identify remaining traffickers.
Rep. Ilhan Omar’s response immediately accusing him of serious heinous crimes shows her persistence of not backing down to the President of the country she resides in.
