Alaska Airlines has placed its largest-ever aircraft order, committing to 110 new Boeing jets in a move that significantly expands and modernizes its fleet for future growth.
Details of the Order
The Seattle-based carrier finalized an order for 105 Boeing 737 MAX 10 aircraft and five new 787 Dreamliners. The agreement also involves Alaska Airlines exercising all of its previously held options for 787 aircraft with Boeing. This major purchase brings the airline’s total order book with Boeing to 245 aircraft.
In addition to the firm orders, the airline has secured rights for an additional 35 737 MAX 10 aircraft, providing flexibility for future expansion.
Strategic Fleet Expansion
The company described this transaction as the largest fleet order in its history. The deal underscores a long-term strategy to grow its operational capacity and modernize its fleet with more fuel-efficient aircraft. The 737 MAX 10, the largest variant in Boeing’s 737 MAX family, is designed to offer greater seat capacity and improved fuel efficiency per seat, which is crucial for both competitive and environmental performance.
The inclusion of the wide-body 787 Dreamliners will support the airline’s expanding international and long-haul route network.
