“A Domestic Terrorist Tried to Assassinate Federal Law Enforcement,” Stephen Miller Blames Minneapolis and Minnesota Democrats for Political Interference

Stephen Miller, United States Homeland Security Advisor, sharply criticized Minneapolis officials following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old man by federal agents during an immigration enforcement operation on Saturday.

In a statement, Miller called the incident an attempted attack on law enforcement, saying: “A domestic terrorist tried to assassinate federal law enforcement and this is your response? You and the state’s entire Democrat leadership team have been flaming the flames of insurrection for the singular purpose of stopping the deportation of illegals who invaded the country.”

The incident occurred at 9:05 a.m. CT when U.S. Department of Homeland Security officers conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis encountered a man armed with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun and two magazines. According to DHS, the suspect violently resisted officers attempting to disarm him, prompting defensive gunfire. Medics provided immediate aid, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man, a 37-year-old Minneapolis resident, was believed to be a U.S. citizen and a lawful gun owner with no criminal record. Video circulating on social media showed a confrontation between the suspect and officers before the shots were fired.

The situation escalated as roughly 200 rioters arrived at the scene, obstructing law enforcement and prompting crowd control measures.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called for an end to federal immigration enforcement operations in the city, asking: “How many more residents, how many more Americans need to die or get badly hurt for this operation to end?”

Miller’s statement represents a harsh rebuke of city and state leadership, framing the shooting as an example of political interference undermining law enforcement efforts amid rising tensions over immigration enforcement.
