French, a candidate for the Texas Railroad Commission, wrote: “Stunning but not shocking. Democrats want illegals here so they can be in charge of America’s destruction. That’s it. They hate you and they hate this country.” The post was a response to a video of Tennessee Democratic Representative Justin J. Pearson calling for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and restructuring U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Pearson’s remarks, made during an interview, criticized federal enforcement policies and argued that the agencies as currently structured are responsible for harming communities. He said the country needs “a federal law enforcement agency that deals with immigration that doesn’t kill people” and emphasized the creation of laws that provide pathways of opportunity for undocumented individuals. Pearson also cited past incidents involving federal authorities, including the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good, to argue that accountability has been lacking.

French’s statement follows a similar criticism from White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller. In a post responding to the same Pearson clip, Miller argued that Democratic immigration policies would turn the United States into a “third world society,” affecting infrastructure, healthcare, education, and public safety.
