“This Is a Government of, By, and for the Ultra-Rich. It Is the Wealthiest Cabinet Ever. This Is the Epstein Class Ruling Our Country,” — Sen. Ossoff Declares — “They Are the Elites They Pretend to Hate”

Sen. Jon Ossoff used a rally in Atlanta, Georgia to deliver a sweeping critique of the Trump administration, arguing that the government has been reshaped to serve wealthy donors and corporate interests at the expense of working-class Americans. Framing his remarks around economic pressure, public service cuts and corruption, Ossoff said the promises that fueled the MAGA movement have been abandoned in favor of what he described as an administration run for the benefit of the ultra-wealthy.

“Now, you remember we were told that MAGA was for working-class Americans. You remember that?” Ossoff said. “But this is a government of, by, and for the ultra-rich. It is the wealthiest cabinet ever. This is the Epstein class ruling our country. They are the elites they pretend to hate.”

Ossoff tied rising costs and shrinking public services directly to administration priorities, listing what he described as the real-world consequences of current policies. “So prices are up, jobs are going away, Medicaid and school lunches are slashed, nursing homes are getting defunded,” he said, questioning how those outcomes could be reconciled with earlier campaign rhetoric. “If you’re Steve Bannon and your pitch was Trump for the forgotten man and woman, how do you sell any of this?”

He accused the administration of redirecting resources away from rural and low-income communities to benefit wealthy individuals and large donors. “Trump was supposed to fight for the working class. Instead, he’s literally closing rural clinics and hospitals to cut taxes for George Soros and Elon Musk,” Ossoff said. He also argued that Trump had reversed course on foreign policy pledges. “He was supposed to end the globalist world-police foreign policy. Instead, we’re doing war for oil and nation-building again and threatening to conquer Greenland.”

Ossoff went on to describe the administration as irredeemably corrupt, saying, “He was supposed to drain the swamp. Instead, this is the most corrupt administration of all time. And everybody knows it.” He pointed to comments made last week by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, quoting her directly. “Listen to what Marjorie Taylor Greene just said about MAGA last week,” Ossoff said. “She said, quote, ‘I think people are realizing it was all a lie.’ She went on to say, ‘What MAGA is really serving in this administration—who they’re really serving—is their big donors.’ She said, ‘The big donors that donated all the money and continue to donate to the president’s PACs, those are the people who get the special favors. They get the government contracts. They get the pardons.’”

“All true. Spot on,” Ossoff added, before quipping, “Marjorie, welcome to the resistance. It’s a big tent.”

The senator alleged that corruption within the administration was both widespread and brazen. “Never in the history of corruption has so little effort gone into hiding so much graft,” he said, pointing to what he described as a “pardon factory” and claiming that donors and political allies were being moved “straight to the front of the line.” He asserted that “the president and his family’s net worth has increased by billions since he took office.”

According to Ossoff, the president has also sought personal financial gain from the federal government itself. “Trump doesn’t just want money from foreign governments. He wants money from the U.S. government too. Our president is suing the United States for $10 billion,” he said. “That is our tax dollars.”

Ossoff further accused Trump of using presidential powers to benefit associates, citing the pardon of Juan Orlando Hernández, the former president of Honduras who was sentenced to 45 years in prison for drug trafficking. “It pays to be friends with this president. It pays to kiss this president’s ass. And if you really need something, you can always just pay the president,” he said.

The rally remarks also echoed broader Democratic warnings about concentrated wealth and power. Sen. Bernie Sanders recently argued that billionaire control over major media and technology platforms poses systemic risks to democracy, writing that authoritarianism extends beyond any single leader when “billionaires increasingly control what we see, hear and read.” Sanders has framed this dynamic as a shift toward oligarchy, a theme closely aligned with Ossoff’s portrayal of an administration he says is structured to serve the ultra-rich rather than the public at large.
