U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) chief Gregory Bovino was confronted by anti-immigration enforcement protesters on Wednesday, who shouted “You’re a Nazi!” and threw food at him and his security detail as he entered a gas station in Minneapolis.
The video footage was shared on social media and showed Bovino walking with a group of federal officials when dozens of protesters surrounded them, blowing whistles and horns while hurling insults. The incident occurred amid ongoing protests in Minnesota over the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent earlier that month.
In the footage, protesters screamed “You’re a Nazi!” as Bovino was escorted to a vehicle.

Multiple minor clashes ensued. 20-30 cars have been following Bovino’s convoy for roughly 2 hours.

Social media users reacted variably to the footage. One user wrote: “Yes! Don’t be ashamed to call them that.” Another commented: “Not sure whether or not he considers ‘nazi’ an insult.” A third urged restraint: “Yell at him all you want, but please don’t throw stuff at them. Not even cheese puffs. They’re looking for an excuse to escalate, and it doesn’t matter how absurd their claims are.”
The confrontation followed reports of Bovino’s attire during a prior appearance in Minneapolis over the weekend, where he wore a green trench coat and black scarf that some observers compared to Nazi-era uniforms. Bovino was the only official in a group of more than a dozen agents wearing that specific outfit.

The protests stem from the January 7, 2026, killing of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent in Minneapolis.
At a press conference in Minneapolis on Tuesday, Bovino defended his agency’s actions: “What we do is legal, ethical, and moral. Everything we do every day is legal, ethical, moral, well grounded in law. So I would impugn upon those police chiefs and anyone else—elected representatives, and you have to remember many of these police chiefs do work for the [Minneapolis] Mayor [Jacob] Frey’s of the world—that turn over those illegal aliens.”
No immediate response from Bovino or CBP was available following the gas station incident. The video was shared on social media by independent journalist Cam Higby.
