North Korea Condemns US Strikes in Venezuela as “Severe Violation of Sovereignty”, Calls It a Threat to Regional Stability Accusing Washington of “Rogue” Behavior

North Korea has issued a strong condemnation of recent U.S. military actions in Venezuela, labeling them a severe violation of international law and a threat to regional stability.

In a statement released on Sunday, January 4, through its state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) sharply criticized the United States. A spokesperson for the North Korean Foreign Ministry accused the U.S. of “wildly” violating Venezuela’s sovereignty and described the American actions as “the most serious form of encroachment of sovereignty.”

Official Condemnation and Accusations

The statement was delivered in response to a question from KCNA regarding the situation in Venezuela. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson asserted that the U.S. action was “a wanton violation of the UN Charter and international laws,” which are founded on principles of respect for sovereignty, non-interference, and territorial integrity.

“The incident is another example that clearly confirms once again the rogue and brutal nature of the U.S. which the international community has so frequently witnessed for a long time,” the spokesperson said.

Warning on Regional and International Stability

Pyongyang expressed deep concern over the broader implications of the event. The statement warned that the U.S. “high-handedness act” was adding instability to an already weakened regional situation. It further claimed the situation “caused a catastrophic consequence to fixing the structure of regional and international relations.”

The DPRK called on the international community to recognize the gravity of the situation and to “raise voices of due protest and denunciation against the U.S. habituated violation of sovereignty of other countries.”

Context of the Statement

The strongly-worded condemnation from North Korea came on the same day that the country launched ballistic missiles into the sea off its east coast. This timing coincided with the beginning of a state visit to China by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol. China remains Pyongyang’s chief ally and a key economic partner.

The statement underscores North Korea’s consistent diplomatic posture of opposing U.S. foreign military interventions and aligning itself with nations that are in conflict with Washington, reinforcing its strategic partnerships and ideological stance against what it terms U.S. “hegemony-seeking” behavior.
