‘Noem Needs to Resign or Be Impeached,’ Says Pritzker, Criticizing Federal ICE Actions, ‘She’s a Pathological Liar’

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker appeared on CNN’s State of the Union to address recent incidents involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents, including a fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent in Minneapolis. His comments were made in response to what he described as violations of protocols by federal agents, amid ongoing disputes over immigration enforcement actions that have led to shootings in multiple locations, such as Portland and elsewhere.

During the segment, which focused on DHS Secretary Kristi Noem’s defense of the ICE agent involved in the Minneapolis incident, Governor Pritzker stated:

“Now we’re seeing it in Minneapolis. We’re seeing the shooting in Portland and elsewhere. They are ICE and CBP, are breaking their own protocols. You read them earlier, their own protocols. And not only roughing people up, but literally shooting at people and killing them, when in some cases, the U.S. citizens and they’re doing nothing wrong. So this is why I have said that the president is not following the law. Why Kristi Noem needs to resign or be impeached and why Tricia McLaughlin should not have the job that she has. She’s a pathological liar. She’s their spokesperson.”

Pritzker’s remarks highlight his view that these incidents involve federal agents harming individuals, including U.S. citizens who he claims were doing nothing wrong, and he directly tied this to broader failures in leadership at the Department of Homeland Security. He specifically called for Noem’s resignation or impeachment and criticized Tricia McLaughlin, the DHS spokesperson, for her role in communicating about these events.
