Vice President JD Vance used his remarks at the 2026 March for Life to celebrate family and parenthood, highlighting his own household as a personal example. Speaking to the crowd, he said, “Let me say very simply: I want more babies in the United States of America.”
Vance then pointed to his own life as proof of his convictions. “So let the record show, you have a Vice President who practices what he preaches,” he said, revealing that he and his wife Usha are expecting their fourth child—a boy—this summer.
NOW – Vance: "Last year, I told you all one of the things I most wanted in the U.S. was more families and more babies. So let the record show, you have a vice president who practices what he preaches. Usha and I announced this week that we're expecting our fourth." pic.twitter.com/QZcgGpH5KY

The announcement comes shortly after Usha Vance shared her own statement, writing:
“We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy. Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July. During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”

The Vice President used the moment to emphasize his broader vision for the nation, linking the personal joy of family to his advocacy for policies that support children and parents. He called for a culture in which raising a family is celebrated as both a personal and civic duty, stressing that meaning and purpose are found in creating and sustaining life rather than in careers or screens.
Vance also highlighted the administration’s concrete measures to protect life and strengthen families, including expanding religious and conscience protections for healthcare workers, enforcing the Weldon Amendment, and tripling the scope of the Mexico City Policy to prevent international organizations that perform or promote abortions from receiving U.S. foreign aid.
